Fred Davis, Trent Williams suspended

The NFL has announced the four-game suspensions for Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis and left tackle Trent Williams for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Well, that is bad news. I thought these guys, meaning all players, know better than to mess with this stuff. It is going to hurt their careers. Can you imagine making that much money and throwing it away because of drugs?

They should know not to act like that. By acting the way they are acting, they are letting down their teammates and setting a bad image of the team. I wouldn't be surprise if there was more backlash from the organization after this.

I think there should be. And I don't think Shanahan will put up with this kind of thing. It would not surprise me if they traded these guys away after the season ends. I surely would.

Nah, I actually hope they keep the players. Both of them are up and coming players and could have a bright future ahead of them, if they only get their act together. I actually think this could be a good thing in a weird way. It gives players a heads up that acting this way is not acceptable and then allows the Redskins to lose more games, therefore getting a better draft pick.

Well, we will have to see. Substance abuse is hard to shake and once a person gets started it may take them years to get over it, if at all. It may take more than this to wake them up.

I agree, it could lead to worse things.

Such a shame that young players like this get caught up into drugs or banned substances. The NFL is just giving young people too much money and that can harm them worse than help them. The young men don't know how to manage being wealthy because they really did not have to work for it over time and learn that it is a blessing.

I really expected better from these players, it's a shame they went down this path.

I know. You would think that since so much was being made about substance abuse in the NFL in recent years, these guys would have heeded the warnings and not go down that path.
