NO is the perfect place for Brees. He is excelling there and really is a superstar QB. Amazing that the Chargers ever let him go, but it was good for his career and definitely good for the Saints. I see him being the only one that can stop the Packers charge toward another Super Bowl, don't you?

RE: Drew Brees throws for 412 yards, 5 TDs to inch closer to Dan Marino's record
The Chargers did not want to make the effort to rehab his shoulder; they believed his career was essentially over. Miami turned him down because with his injury it was widely believed that he would never again be able to throw a long ball. When Brees interviewed with the Saints and subsequently signed with them, the fans made a huge uproar against him because he was "washed up." Even his supporters said that he'd at least be a good "interim" QB, while the Saints looked for a good young up and comer to train into the position. I supported his signing--but--only because the Saints were desperate for change and because I'd seen Elway play well after a similar injury. No way did I think he'd last more than for a year or two.
Sometimes it's nice to be proven wrong. |
