Cam Newton broke Peyton Manning's rookie record for yards passing in a season and set a franchise record with a 91-yard touchdown pass to Brandon LaFell as the Panthers handed the Bucs their ninth straight defeat, 48-16 on Saturday.

He did a good job in his rookie year but not a great job. Newton may have surpassed Manning's rookie mark when he threw for 3 touchdowns and ran 49 yards but Cam Newton will never be a Peyton Manning. Just look around the league the passing yard are not as special. Comparing passing yards in 2011 & 1998 is silly. Still, there's nothing wrong in giving Cam a little credit.
