Andrew Luck hopes to play right away
Quarterback Andrew Luck says he's ready to start in the NFL next season.

Luck was in Indianapolis on Thursday to work out at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute. It won't be his last trip to Indy.

He'll return in three weeks for the NFL combine and perhaps for good after April's draft. Colts owner Jim Irsay has said he will use the No. 1 overall pick on a quarterback, especially with Peyton Manning's health still unresolved.

Manning's surgically repaired neck sidelined him for all of the 2011 season, but he says he's making progress and has been throwing passes recently. Also, Irsay must pay a $28 million roster bonus by March 8 or risk losing Manning to free agency.

Luck says he could co-exist with Manning, but he wants to play right away.

RE: Andrew Luck hopes to play right away
Indy have basically committed to Luck in the draft so if he goes with the number 1 pick then he has to play from the start. I know he could probably learn a lot from Peyton but this guy seems to me to be ready to go now.

Luck is a stud, it will be interesting to see what he can do with Indy's weapons around him.

I think any team drafting him should commit to playing him right away. He's ready for it and there's no reason to pay him the salary he will command as the #1 Pick if he's going to be sitting on the bench even for a year. Manning will be the one going to another team.

I can understand him wanting to play right away and hope that he does. He is such an excellent player and it will be great to see what he can do in the NFL. But if Manning is still with the Colts, I have trouble seeing him sitting on the sidelines while Luck plays right way.

Which is exactly why all scenarios right now seem to point to Peyton NOT being with the Colts next season.

The idea is that the front office DOESN'T want to pay Peyton the promised money so they have to get rid of him very soon. They only have like two weeks or less to do it.

I am really a fan of this young man, Luck. I like his eagerness and his maturity at his young age. He is impressive athletically and I look forward to seeing him play!

It was the perfect storm for Manning to not come back. The injury led him to missing the season. They get the worst record leading to the #1 pick with 2 Franchise Changing QB's in Luck and RG3. Manning has the huge bonus he is due if he comes back as well. It was just meant to happen this way. Maybe ina different draft, something else happens, but the Colts have to take Luck or RG3 and both need to play right away.

Its still a shame Manning couldnt end it with the Colts. Sucks that he had to be forced out of town.

Well, now that Manning is gone... Luck will easily be able to start all 16 games this year as long as he doesn't get hurt.
