The Falcons Have Never Had A Great Qb - But How Does Ryan Stack Up?
I was thinking that Ryan has done pretty well for his first few years - but I wonder how well he stacks up against our best quarterbacks in Falcon uniform over the years. To me, the best quarterback we ever had was Chris Chandler, because he got us to the Superbowl, but aside from post season - which is kept differently from regular season in the stats, was he the best?

I don't know all of our quarterbacks, but I always thought Chandler, Bart and Vick in that order before Ryan. Ryan has 53 games under his belt - so how well does he stack up in regular season play against the 3 I consider the best we've had over the years after 53 starts? I didn't include post season in these because Ryan still has to prove he can perform after the regular season is over. This is also only numbers they put up as a Falcon during their first 53 starts. All of these started as a Falcon except Chandler - who came in his 10th year. He finished his 53rd start in his 13th year. Ryan did it in 3 years and 7 games, Vick 5 years and 3 games, Bart 5 years and 2 games.

If I was telling the truth, I would say that I didn't expect Ryan to come anywhere close to as good as the other 3 because of all the stuff I read on this message board. I figured he was going to be far behind the others. I guess I was a little bit taken aback by the truth of his contributions during regular season - especially the wins/losses.

I guess you can't believe everything you read on a message board after all. All these haters gon hate and if it makes them feel more special about their own life - let them hate on.

Discuss

Oh - all you haters who gonna hate - hate on - you mean about as much in the scheme of things as tits on a boar.

Carry on.

Here is Chris Miller

I think he is good and with Jones in there to receive he will get even better over the next two or three years. Remember, Ryan is still a young QB. Atlanta does need one more good running back and a good third reciever. Jones and White can only do so much. Now the Falcons need to concentrate on their defense and they will be fine for next year. I predict they will make the playoffs this year.

Wow I didn't expect Ryan to do much better than the other quarterbacks as well. I'm actually very surprised he is doing a better job than Michael Vick. He's still young though so he has a lot more to show.

So true and with the receivers and Turner around him all he needs is for the offensive line to protect. Then he will bust out and really perform, as he is. The Falcons need a better defense. Ryan can put points on the board, the defense just has to make stops.

A quarterback can never be "great" unless he is "in it" for the team. Vick is in it for himself and his own glory. He will never be a great quarterback although he has a bit of talent for it--when he's not trying to be a running back.

I think Ryan will be the best QB Atlanta has ever had. He is still pretty young and the Falcons are slowly building a team around him. With some more defensive players and a few really good offensive linemen or at least the linemen he has working together longer, he will be a force for several more years.

I think as the experience with Ryan progresses with his team and his teammates, he will probably be one of the Falcons best QB's they've had. However, to underestimate and say that Atlanta has never had a good quarterback before is absurd. Michael Vick was in his prime back with Atlanta and he carried his team many times to a W.
